Dr. Ken scores big in The Hangover

by Suzanne Leung on June 13, 2009

Full frontal by an Asian actor?  That guy’s got balls.  I loved comedian Ken Jeong, aka “Dr. Ken,” in his latest flick, The Hangover.  Indeed, one thing I love about being a minority/immigrant is that it gives us the license to indulge in the hilarity of self-deprecation.

Dr. Ken is a prime example.  Besides his appearances in Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, and Role Models, this Korean-American doctor turned comedian is incredible at stand-up.  He’s no holds barred when it comes to poking fun at his fellow fobs.  In fact, it seems we’ve done pretty well at exploiting our quirks for comedic fame.  Whether it’s the ability to pull a perfect Vietnamese accent (Anjelah Johnson!), or making fun of the our immigrant-learned cheapness (Russell Peters!), there’s really nothing funnier than highlighting our fobulosity.
