Last month I tried to become vegetarian after being slightly traumatized from Ruth Ozeki’s book, My Year of Meat. But, if you really know me, you’d know the attempt was futile. I was soon back to gobbling my favorite carnivorous delicacies. No matter what, I’ll always be a meat-lover. One of my fave street foods here in Hong Kong—the land where people eat anything that moves—is ngau jap or cow organs. It’s a steaming bowl of cow stomach, intestines, lungs, kidney and spleen. A dash of mustard and it’s the perfect snack after an afternoon of shopping. I gotta say, growing up in Asia keeps you very open-minded about food!
